50/hour labor rate

Why don’t you charge by “book” time? book time works for new vehicles because they have little to no modifications the vast majority of the time, which means the time it takes is reliably predictable. classic cars however are most often in greatly varying levels of disrepair, are highly customized, or have been mishandled by amateurs. charging the same for everyone is therefore unfair to customers whos vehicles are in good condition and don’t require much work, or it is unfair to me who must put in more time on vehicles that are in terrible condition. i believe each person should pay what it takes for their specific situation, no more no less.

Frequently asked Questions

Do you only work on classics? Absolutely not. I can, and am willing to do, a huge variety of things, some examples include; welding, electrical, fabrication, paint, bodywork, art, and design. Just ask!

What are some other non-standard options you offer? i’m considering offering a “fast pass” option, where, for a higher hourly rate, you could skip strait to the front of the line. i would then call up whoever is next in line and offer them a large discount for them to go to the back of the line. in addition i would work longer hours, weekends, holidays, hire extra hands, call in favors, whatever it takes to crunch it out to meet your goal on time. another one, is something “kiddies classics” in port saint lucy, fl came up with, what they call “concierge service”. essentially i would spend the time to evaluate absolutely every single possible thing i can about your car and document it. giving an accurate baseline to start from and making future work much more efficient. it also streamlines ordering parts. mine would be slightly less comprehensive compared to theirs, however for a fraction of the price.
